  • What idea is guiding this work? For this project, I wanted to explain how thoughts/thinking works in the brain. The sorting of thoughts reminded me of how I sort my clothes at home into a drawer. Inspired by the instruction manuals of furniture, I decided to create a "manual" of how to sort your thoughts (or how the brain sorts thoughts).

I am focusing on texture and markmaking for this project. To mimic instruction manuals, I am using minimalistic, standardized lines to create my piece.

  • How are you practicing, experimenting, or revising aspects of this work? (you can pick one)

For this piece, I experimented with what medium I wanted to use. Originally, I was going to use ink for this piece but found that I could not achieve the precise lines that I wanted. Conveniently, I was given access to an Adobe subscription, so I am using Illustrator instead.

  • How can your choices of materials or processes relate to your idea?

My choice to use Illustrator stems from the fact that I want to create very standardized, corporate-looking lines. Hand-drawing each panel did not give me the consistent results I looked for, but in Illustrator I can easily create uniform lines.
